HISTORY
OF SIXMAN FOOTBALL Stephen Epler, a staff member at Chester High School, Chester Nebraska in 1933, is given credit
for creating the modern day concept of Sixman Football. During the depression era, few players and a lack of funds made this
concept very appealing to his school. SCASF was patterned after a sixman football program in San Antonio,Texas- created by
Miles Sims. You may visit his web site at www.sixman.com.
Changing Lives Some
call them homeboys, some call them other names. Regardless of what you call them, there is this group of young adults between
the ages of 18 to 26 who hang out on the corners, those who are doing little or nothing to better themselves.
Many of these young men are from broken homes and have no directions or role models to follow.
Through our
Sixman football program, we have reach a few of these young adults. They are placed on teams with other young and
older adults who have been successful. By playing football they are force to be discipline, to establish structure
in their lives, they learn to work together as a team for a positive goal, they have learned to respect others,
to respect authority, to follow rules, even if you don't like them. Many stop or cut back on hanging out, staying
up late, smoking and drinking, doing drugs, in order to get in shape to perform at their best. Through their relationship
with their coach, who is now that father figure, they are turning their lives around. They
now have something positive to feel good about.
College Scholarships Several of our players have gone on
to play college football as a result of playing in our league. We offer finical assistant for college Tuition, SAT
or ACT prep courses. If a player is serious about going to college, we will assist him in preparing a highlight tape, player
profile and stats to send to colleges.
High School Football In the fall of 2006, SCASF kick-off the inaugural season of a high school football and cheerleading league
consisting of small, private schools. Many of these schools don't have the skills and/or
number of players needed to be successful for an 11 man program. I am very excited about this program, and I feel
God will use it to bring honor and glory to Him. Through these sports, young men and women will learn the value of team work,
loyalty, dedication, and commitment. These skills will prepare them to be better leaders and servants
for the Lord. Schools that will be playing in
